Conditions of carriage

BEYERS Bus Service/Busdiens

Passengers are transported subject to, and in terms of Standard Conditions of Carriage, notwithstanding anything contained herein to the contrary.

1. Carrier

The Carrier is BEYERS Bus Service/Busdiens, a sole proprietor in accordance with the company laws of the Republic of South Africa.

2. Disclaimer

BEYERS Bus Service/Busdiens, its Owners, Officers, Employees, Servants or Agents shall not be liable (whether in contract or delict) in any way whatsoever for loss, injury, loss of life or damage of whatsoever nature and howsoever caused. Whether or not caused by the negligence of BEYERS Bus Service/Busdiens. Its Owners, Officers, Employees, Servants or Agents arising out of or connected in any way to the conveyance or non-conveyance by BEYERS Bus Service/Busdiens of any passenger or any person or of the property of any person whether such property is accompanied by a passenger or not.

3. Bookings

Journey bookings are not transferable and are valid only for the journey for which the booking was made.

Passengers must report to the bus driver of BEYERS Bus Service/Busdiens before entering the bus.

It is the sole responsibility of the passenger to ensure that the correct information is on record with the operator.

Any change of trip to be undertaken requires that a new booking is made with the operator at least 48 hours before commencement of the original booking.

Positive identification may be requested when boarding the BEYERS Bus Service/Busdiens bus.

4. Fares

All fares are subject to change without notice. BEYERS Bus Service/Busdiens will only be bound by the fare charged at the time of making the reservation provided the reservation is no longer than 30 days in the future.

5. Right of Admission

BEYERS Bus Service/Busdiens reserves the right of admission to any of its busses and offices.

6. Departure Time

Passengers must be at the departure points 15 minutes prior to the departure time as reflected on the schedule.

7. Payments, Cancellation and Refunds

Regrettably no payment by cheque will be accepted.

Cancellations must be made in writing or telephonically at least 48 hours before the applicable journey’s departure time.

No refunds within 48 hours of the departure time of the bus will be allowed.

No refunds or amendments after the departure time of the bus will be allowed.

All refunds, cancellations and amendments 48 hours or more before departure are subject to an administration fee of 15% of the applicable fare.

In the event of any request for a refund or amendment of the original booking made, proper identification must accompany such request.

8. Luggage

Each fare paying passenger is permitted to take not more than one item of personal luggage not exceeding total volume of 80cm x 60cm x 60cm in size and total mass not exceeding 30kg that will be carried in the luggage compartment of the bus or a trailer towed by the bus. BEYERS Bus Service/Busdiens reserves the right to refuse carriage of any item or luggage, which does not comply with these conditions.

Unaccompanied luggage will not be carried.

BEYERS Bus Service/Busdiens is not responsible whatsoever for loss or damage to passengers’ hand luggage or personal effects, property, or luggage. (See disclaimer point 2).

All passengers should ensure that their luggage is adequately insured.

Harmful chemicals, explosives, animals, reptiles, combustible fluids or toxic substances will not be carried.

No bicycles, electronic equipment, fishing rods. surf boards, abnormal boxes or perishables will be carried, unless prior arrangement is made with BEYERS Bus Service/Busdiens Supervisor.

Additional charges may be levied as per pre-determined tariffs for excess luggage.

9. Smoking

Smoking is prohibited on the BEYERS Bus Service/Busdiens Bus.

10. Alcohol

Consumption of alcohol is prohibited on the BEYERS Bus Service/Busdiens Bus.

BEYERS Bus Service/Busdiens reserves the right to refuse to undertake the conveyance of any passenger who enters the coach whilst intoxicated.

11. Pets

No animals will be carried, except for a trained guide dog accompanying a blind passenger when arranged with BEYERS Bus Service/Busdiens at the time of making the booking.

12. Children

No children under the age of 12 years will be conveyed without being accompanied by an adult.

Children occupying a seat pays full fare.

Children younger than 12 months travel free if not occupying a seat.

13. Passengers with Special Assistance

BEYERS Bus Service/Busdiens does not make provision for carriage of incapacitated persons or other persons requiring special assistance.

14. Pregnant Women

Acceptance of Carriage of women who are beyond the 35th week of pregnancy will not be accepted for travel on any BEYERS Bus Service/Busdiens bus without a doctor’s letter certifying that they are able to travel.

A doctor’s certificate is also required for any high risk/complicated pregnancies regardless of stage of pregnancy.

15. Timetables and Schedules

Whilst BEYERS Bus Service/Busdiens will make all reasonable effort to keep to the scheduled timetable, no liability whatsoever can be accepted by BEYERS Bus Service/Busdiens for any loss or damage incurred by any passenger, or inconvenience experienced by any person due to a delay or cancellation of any service for whatsoever reason.

16. Substitute buses

BEYERS Bus Service/Busdiens reserves the right to operate substitute buses/motor vehicles with those of a different standard or modification to those advertised under circumstances such as mechanical breakdowns and the like.

17. Insurance

BEYERS Bus Service/Busdiens does not provide general liability insurance cover for its passengers, their property or luggage. Therefore, all passengers should ensure that they are properly insured (including their property or luggage).
